The house of the Youths, Pope John XXIII, is an organ of the social
service of the diocese of Piacenza, started in 1968, by the generous
donation of the meritorious bank of "Cassa di Risparmio di Piacenza",
to give hospitality and only daytime assistance to the travelling girls
students and working women of the city of Piacenza, of the province of
Piacenza and of other provenance, in order to facilitate them to achieve
an academic title or for an adequate practical preparation and culture of work.
The hostel is dedicated to great Pope John XXIII, who initiated the second Vatican Council and his teachings strongly motivated for the foundations of the house. La Casa della Giovane Giovanni XXIII, was instituted as an Association on 12 November 1987, after the restructuring of the house as an fulltime hostel. The centre always faithful to its origin and remained as an ideal place to create a family atmosphere in a spirit of respect. The hostel offers moments of spirituality, inviting the youth to participate in the listening of the Word of God, prayers and other liturgical celebrations. The house is open to all young girls irrespective of their culture, religion, social status and nationality. |
