The house of the Youths, Pope John XXIII, is an organ of the social service of the diocese of Piacenza, started in 1968, by the generous donation of the meritorious bank of "Cassa di Risparmio di Piacenza", to give hospitality and only daytime assistance to the travelling girls students and working women of the city of Piacenza, of the province of Piacenza and of other provenance, in order to facilitate them to achieve an academic title or for an adequate practical preparation and culture of work.

The hostel is dedicated to great Pope John XXIII, who initiated the second Vatican Council and his teachings strongly motivated for the foundations of the house.
La Casa della Giovane Giovanni XXIII, was instituted as an Association on 12 November 1987, after the restructuring of the house as an fulltime hostel.
