The Institute of the Ursulinesisters of Mary Immaculate has been
founded in Piacenza, in Via Roma, 42, where it still has the Mother
House, by Blessed Brigida Morello, in 17th February, 1649.
Foundress of the Institute, prophetes of her times, saw an era,
where materialism and power influenced Christian doctrine and faith
adversely.
Hence she proposed education of the young, to mould and form their young minds and hearts, to knowing and loving God, and to give them the right values of life. So the Congregation aim at the integral formation of the young by the type of teaching which tends to bring about a personal synthesis of lifeby educating them, to be spiritually oriented, morally upright, socially concerned and intellectually well informed, all with a view of making human life more meaningful and the good of the society for which he/she belongs. Besides the schools the Ursulineshave opened boarding schools for their students who were residents outside the cities. In 1993, in answer to the urgent need of the territory, the Institute opened a Boarding house "College of St. Ursula", later on called as 'Ursuline College', for the students of the Catholic University (Università Cattolica) with an aim to help and support the young girls who has to leavetheir parents and family for study reason. We hope to contribute our best for the formations of these young girls by imparting to them sound, moral, human and cultural values in order to prepare them to face life and the challenges of the modern world responsibily and courageously and to contribute their share in turn to form a better society. |
